Middle school (5-8)
NEW THIS FALL 2020: We will have 7th grade at Marquette Catholic School
We anticipate in Fall 2021 offering 8th grade.
St. John Bosco, pray for us!
“A good school provides a rounded education for the whole person.
And a good Catholic school, over and above this,
should help all its students to become saints.”
— Pope Benedict XVI
We provide 4-year academic plans for our Middle School using our
Diocesan Standards for Catholic Schools which adhere to the Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards.
Mr. Lemieux is both a lifelong Catholic and a lifelong native of a Virginia, Minnesota. He graduated from Virginia High School in 2002, and from the College of St. Scholastica in 2006 with a BA in Elementary Education. He enjoys camping, geocaching, and being outdoors with his wife and children. When Mr. Lemieux was in middle school, his favorite subjects were Science and Math!
Hi! I am Mary Kay Wildes. I am from Virginia (born and raised). I met my husband Tom while studying at the University of Wisconsin, Superior. Following college, we relocated to Virginia and purchased my great-grandparents home. It was one of the first houses in Virginia and was actually moved from what is now a mine pit at the end of Chestnut Street. We have two amazing boys. I have been a teacher at Marquette for many years. Teaching the faith and all the values associated with it brings joy and inspiration to my days. Marquette is like a second family to me. I have an open-door policy: If you have a question or concern, just let me know!
Hi, my name is Michelle Berlin. I couldn’t be more excited to teach 5th grade language arts along with K-6 art this year! My love of Jesus, kids, beautiful language and art are all passions of mine and I am extremely blessed to incorporate all these passions in the best job in the world! I have an elementary education degree with a concentration in reading. I received my Masters of Education in curriculum and instruction. Marquette is a very special place to me; Three of my kids are Marquette graduates and five are current Marquette students. I look forward to a tremendous year!
Hi. My name is Tisha Frost. I'm originally from Chatfield, MN in SE Minnesota and am one of seven girls. I moved to Virginia last year with my husband Ben and five children. I received my B.A. in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame and then went on to earn my Masters of Education though the ACE Program at Notre Dame. I specialized in Middle and High School Social Studies, so I am thrilled to be able to teach that subject here at Marquette. Marquette has been a huge blessing to our entire family and we are so happy to have 5 children enrolled here. I will continue to work on Middle School Development as I have a passion for offering Catholic Education options to families.
Meet Our Middle School Teachers
Head + Heart = Discipleship
When middle school students graduate from MCS,
we want them to be able to understand, explain and defend their faith:
5th grade: Old Testament with Sacred Art
6th grade: New Testament with Sacred Art
7th Grade: Church History and Creed
8th Grade: Intro to Apologetics and Aquinas
Memory Challenges each year: prayers, creed, books of the Bible, etc.
In addition, over the four years of middle school, we want students to have encounters with Christ that lead them to conversion and discipleship:
Attend Mass Thursday mornings (+ Wed. school Mass)
Help lead at Mass as servers, lectors, sacristans
Have monthly Adoration and Reconciliation
Talks on Virtue and Saints
Meet with mentors and small groups
Attend retreats every semester
Be introduced to Theology of the Body
Learn about religious vocations and more
